The functionality of the programs was graded in this section of the testing, where we looked at the features available in each application. The operating systems supported by the program, ranging from Windows 98 to the more recent Vista, were logged, as well as the supported file systems. Tracking down deleted partitions was a plus, as was restoring folders, file names and files from removable media such as smart cards and USB flash drives. We also looked at the ability of the program to do a RAW scan of the drive, and bonus points were awarded to those that came with a portable version of its software for users to take with them wherever they go.
