You have a huge hard disk, but you are still in need of more space and you don't know what is occupying it all. In this case, you need to use 0&0 DiskStat. This disk utility displays the hard disk usage in tidy 3D diagrams. On starting, it shows all the drives in an elaborate bar diagram. On the left side of the screen, a Windows Explorer lookalike window displays all the folders. Each folder is accompanied by a bar which graphically displays the amount of space the respective folders take up in the root folder.

Below this window, a pie-chart shows the programs that are hogging the most space. The worst culprits on our test system were Microsoft Office, a couple of backup files, and Windows XP itself. This is where one questions the basic purpose of this tool. How does it help if the space-consuming programs that it traces are indispensable? This tool also lacks other useful functions such as tracking duplicates of files. Options for the removal of unwanted data or information and displaying file details are also missing. So, DiskStat remains a well-designed product without much substance.
