FreeSize is a hard disk space manager for Windows. It depicts the usage of file storage on various drives thereby helping you recover free space. The free version works only with local drives and it shows a few details relating to file sizes, paths and folders. It also lets you search local drives for old, big, temporary and duplicate files.
Its Windows Explorer-like user interface is fast and it supports Unicode. There are options to print detailed reports. With the professional version you can even export the collected data to Excel and to an HTML, XML or text file. Treesize scanned our C: partition, which had 16 GB of occupied space, very quickly and gave us an indication about how much space, is used by each application installed on our system, Outlook email, temporary files, the Recycle bin, the OS system files, and other document folders.
Results were shown in a tree-like view with collapsible branches for folders. We could also check the size of the individual folders and for files of a certain type, using wildcard characters. Space allocation can be viewed in terms of KB/MB/GB or percentage or as a file count.
The professional version offers features that extend to servers and network drives. And there are more file details such as the owner's name and last date of change or access, and more graphical and reporting options.
