Thread: Advice on Windows 98 application

Can you advice of any applications that provide secunty software, as it appears that AVG and other companies no longer support Windows 98 SE.

There are still security programs that will run on Windows 98. The Avast antivirus software will work on older versions of Windows, including 98SE. The Jetico Firewall will provide protection from hackers.

We don't recommend using Windows 98 (or 95 and Me) online because they are no longer supported by Microsoft. This means that vulnerabilities are not fixed, potentially putting the computer at risk online. If the cost of buying a new computer is too great, Ubuntu Linux is a secure alternative to Windows 98.

Older computers may run better with Xubuntu, a slightly different version specially designed for older computers.
