A Zip file contains compressed data that can be extracted using WinZip. Since the format has gained popularity during the years, many users prefer compressing files using WinZip.
On the other hand, there are several ZIP files that are available over the internet that contain viruses, worms or spyware which can erase important system files or keep a track of your activities. If you are the administrator of your system, you can prevent other users from decompressing ZIP files on your system. To do so, follow the steps mentioned below:
To disable compression and decompression of ZIP files in Windows Vista, click 'Start', type 'Disable: regsvr32 /u zipfldr.dll' in the 'Search' box and press [Enter] key.
