FotoSketcher is a freeware application that turns photos into sketches. Since it is portable. no installation is needed. Just download or copy the 2.5 MB executable file to your hard drive or flash drive. double-click on it and start making sketches. With FotoSketcher. you can apply various filters to images. You can make black and white. and colored sketches. canvas-type paintings. apply textures and softness etc. The settings also allow fine-tuning. While there are separate presets or profiles for each effect, each profile can be tweaked to the minutest details. The 'Pencil sketch' profile has settings that lets you modify the edge threshold and intensity, the level of contrast and so on. The results of these fine tweaks can be previewed in real time before you apply them to an image, which is the most interesting part.

The user interface is very intuitive, it only takes a few steps. Load an image, make the desired changes in the 'Drawing Parameters' area, click on the 'Draw' button and save the drawn image as a JPG file. While the original image remains unchanged, you can actually opt to make changes to it from within the application. Just push F9 on your keyboard and start tweaking. Here. you can resize the source image and change its luminosity, contrast-level, saturation and sharpness. This further increases the chances of getting desired results.
