    Default Installation problem

I downloaded Google Chrome from the browser's official site but have not been able to install it. I have been using other browsers like Mozilla Firefox, Opera and Internet Explorer before installing Chrome and they have all worked fine. What could be the cause of this problem.

There can be several reasons that can cause problems while installing Google Chrome. Firstly, make sure you have downloaded the file completely from a reliable source. Since the source of the application (in your case) is the official Google website, this copy can be trusted.

The most common problem for failed installations is the presence of anti-virus programs that prevent Google Chrome from being installed. Turn these applications off temporarily and restart the installation process. Avoid uninstalling the anti-virus as it may compromise the security of your system. If you still cannot install it, then look for an upgrade to the anti-virus application. This is advisable since your anti-virus program may have introduced some new upgrade that will not treat Google Chrome as a malicious software and allow it to install without any problems.

If you still face problems installing Chrome then you can try changing your temporary directory. Google Chrome fails to install if the temporary directory is not created. Create a folder in your default drive, name it 'Test' and follow the steps below.

Download the alternative Google Chrome installation file.

Move this file to the 'Test' folder that you have just created.

Click 'Start|Run' and enter 'cmd' in the run dialog box. Click 'OK'.

Once the command prompt opens, enter the text 'set TMP=C:\Test' and press [Enter].

In the next line type 'cd c:\test'.

Finally type 'start ChromeSetup.exe' in the next line and press [Enter].
