Kaspersky's product are a popular option for providing effective protection for a variety of security threats. Their newest security suite -Internet Security 2010 has all the usual protections antivirus protection for files, email, web browsing, applications and processes and also a bi-directional firewall, anti-DOS protection, anti-spam as Has a strong feature list but takes up a large chunk of system resources. well as anti-phishing and banner ad blocking with the addition of some extra features and design makeover.

The user interface has undergone a bit of a change with the way the various categories are listed but it is still easy to access all the functionalities for such a complex product. The My Protection window provides an easy way to access all the features included in a very well categorized manner and also features a graphic display ofthe current scan being done on your PC with details of the threats detected till date. Another very good addition is the Security+ feature that provides extra tools like a virtual keyboard, Parental Control, Rescue Disk creator, Windows settings troubleshooting, etc.

It now comes with protection for instant messaging sessions, a URL Advisorto fight phishing attacks, and a gaming profile feature that disables notifications and some security features when playing games in full screen mode. Another notable new addition is the Safe Run feature, which lets you run suspect apps or links in a virtualized 'sandbox', thus isolating it from the OS. The only drawback we found with this feature was that it utilizes lots of system resources making it unsuitable for older PCs. We also experienced a number of lock-ups of the PC using this software.

So, features-wise it is a definite step-up from its predecessor. It's always had a strong feature list but it trod lightly on our clunkier system, having little impact on performance. Kaspersky's security suite detection rates have been higher in the past but it remains a top security bundle.
