Before we start, make sure you have development and library packages installed from the Ubuntu CD. Copy the source file apache _1.339 taT bz2, php-5. 2. 5. tw~ bz2, and sqlite3-3. 5.4. bin.gz to the lusrllocaUsre! directory. Now, we can configure Apache as follows: ed lusr/loeal/sreltar -jxf apache_I.3.39 tar.bz2 I rm -f Ibin/sh In -s Ibin/bash Ibin/sh I cd apache_I.3.39. configure \ --bindi r=/usr Ibin \ --sbindir=/usr I sbin \-¬sysconfdir=letc/httpd/conf \--enable-shared=max \--prefix=1 httpd \--enable-module=so \--enable-module=access \-- enable-module=digest Configuring for Apache, Version 1.3.39 Thank you for using PHP. + using installation path layout: Apache (config .layout).

If your console output is similar to what's appeared above, then the configuration process was sllccessfll!. The configuration procedure looks for all dependency packages, and if it does not fmd one, it errors out. If you receive an error, install the missing package from the Ubuntu CD and 'make clean' to reset the conjig log and start all over again. Now we need to compile the package and install it as follows:
