Default Securing saved log-in passwords in Flrefox 2.x, 3.x

Firefox is supposed to save form data for logins to websites. However, you do not completely trust the browser specific function.

As an alternative, there is the free add-on 'Secure Login', which provides more protection from possible Phishing attacks. In the website, click on the link 'install' or open the XPI-file 'Secure Login_0.9.3_fx_en-US.xpi' using Firefox. In the dialog, click 'Install now' and restart the browser. Secure Login uses the password management integrated in Firefox, but prevents forms from being filled out automatically. You can complete this manually by clicking on the key symbol of the add-on. If several login combinations are stored, you can choose the right one in this manner. To customize, open 'Tools/Secure Login/Settings' and click on the symbol 'Interface'. In the 'View' section, control using the responsible options, whether the control for Secure Login should be visible or not. However, do not activate all 'Hide' options, or else you will no longer be able to access the tool. Now click on the 'General' symbol and activate 'Automatically search for log-in data and highlight form fields' option. Firefox displays the key symbol of the add-on in yellow from then on, even when the data is stored. Optionally, for more security, you can also 'Activate the JavaScript-protection for login'.

This blocks all JavaScript scripts during login and prevents Cross-Site-Scripting attacks. However, some websites require JavaScript for the login. These can be defined as 'Exceptions'. With the 'Activate Secure Login bookmark', you will finally also have the option to store completed forms with the login as bookmarks. Confirm with 'OK'. To create a special bookmark like this, first open the login page, for which data has already been stored. Then right-click on the key symbol and select the command 'Add Secure Login bookmark'. Now save it with the usual Firefox dialog. The bookmark contains only an addition, which starts with '#slb' and refers to the Secure Login entry with the help of a unique number. In future, all you need is to click this bookmark for a complete login.
