You seen on PC that you have a program called Outlook. It may be called Outlook 2000 or Outlook 2003 etc. You may also see that you have a program called Outlook Express. What is difference between the two?
Outlook Express is component of Internet Explorer and comes with each version of Windows. Based on what version of Internet Explorer you have will decide what version of Outlook Express you have. E.g. IE 6 will have Outlook Express 6.
Outlook is a great edition of Outlook Express and is individual from Internet Explorer. It can be bought or it can also come contained with Microsoft Office.
Here are some of aspects of Outlook that Outlook Express does not contain:
• Capability to attach to a Microsoft Exchange Server for e-mail other than internet e-mail.
• Built in Task and Contact management capabilities
• Calendar
• E-mail filtering and rules
• Sharing of public folders, forms, scheduling etc. with Exchange Server users
• Integration with Microsoft Office
Many home users Outlook Express will perform this. You can have many e-mail accounts setup and maintain an address book of contacts. If you are in a work location and want to attach to an Exchange Server to allocate information with co-workers the Outlook is better.
