You Get an Error 1921 Message When You Try to Install Office 2003
When you install Microsoft Office 2003 on a Windows XP PC, you get an error message like following:
ERROR 1921 Service 'MDM' could not be stopped. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to stop system services.
This error happens when Machine Debug Manager service is not set to begin mechanically.
To solve this problem, you want to make Machine Debug Manager Service start automatically. After that you want to restart service and run Office 2003 Setup program again.
To make Machine Debug Manager Service begins automatically do the following:
1. Click on Start then Run and type MMC, and then tick Ok.
2. Click File, then Add/Remove Snap-in, then Add on Standalone tab, and then tick Ok.
3. In Available Standalone Snap-ins box, click Services, and then click Add.
4. Click to choose Local PC in the snap-in will always manage box, and then tick Finish.
5. Click Close, and then click Ok.
6. In Services snap in, expand Services.
7. In list of Services, right tick the Machine Debug Manager service, and tick Properties.
8. On General tab, tick Automatic in the Startup type box, and then tick OK.
9. Right tick the Machine Debug Manager service, and then tick Restart.
After you follow these steps, you can install Office 2003.
