Thread: Different images in Acronis True Image

I recently bought Acronis True Image. I am very satisfied with it, but on completing a full backup it put the backup into seven numbered sections on my external hard disk. When I want to make a differential backup,sothat"just back up the files that have changed, do I backup one and run the program to update them all or do I need to do the backup for all seven files? I have em ailed Acronis but have had not received a reply.

It sounds like True Image has split the backup into several files for ease of use, because Windows does not allow files over a certain size. That means, if your files are larger than that limit, the program will split them up. This is because, unlike other backup programs that store copies of the files, True Image is creating an image file of the entire disk. You don't actually need to do anything with the numbered files themselves.

When you want to do another backup, go back into Acronis True Image and find the backup job you created last time. This time, instead of making a full backup you can run the same job and select a differential backup. You can even get it to schedule a regular backup job so that it automatically does the differential backup once a month or whenever you like.
