    Default AVG installation problem ?

I have downloaded the installation file for AVG 7.5 for Linux to my computer running Ubuntu 7.10. I cannot install it as every time 1 double-click on it the message' Archive type not supported' appears.

The problem is there are several different kinds of file for installing software on Linux, depending on the version or distribution. Files ending in .rpm are used by distributions including Fedora Core and Opensuse. Ubuntu uses a different kind offile ending in .deb. This file is also available from the AVG site. The Add Software utility in Ubuntu is very good - it's always worth looking for software there first rather than download the file separately.
