Default How to open documents automatically in the reading layout in Words 2003/2007

Word opens documents received via email in the reading layout. It is well meant, but you prefer the normal view. Hence, you always have to change the display first.

You can deactivate the display of the reading layout permanently in the program options. For that, open 'Tools/Options' and change to the 'General' tab. Deactivate the 'Allow starting in Reading Layout' check box there and confirm with 'OK'. From now on, documents will appear in the edit view on opening. The manual switching option using the 'View' menu remains unaffected by this and can be used further.
