Mozilla Thunderbird just got better. The new version 3 sports an improved user interface and new features that enhance productivity. The most prominent change is the tabbed interface which allows opening folders and mails in separate tabs. Double clicking on an email opens it in a new tab, plus you can choose to open a folder in a new tab from its context menu. This makes working with multiple emails a lot more convenient. Thunderbird 3 also remembers the visible and open tabs on qUitting. Another useful addition is a search tool and support for indeXing messages. The program automatically indexes the messages to make searching quicker. There's a search field at the top right corner of the window. You can search for mails from specified senders or email addresses as well as those with specific words or phrases in them-a very useful feature, especially when the number of mails is huge. The search result gets displayed in a new tab from which you can further filter out mails based on the sender, presence of attachments, and so on. Thunderbird indexes the messages at startup or when it's idle, but it's a bit slow and can be annoying while you're in the middle of something important.
