The Nero 9 suite is an extensive suite comprising tools for ripping audio CDs. converting cassettes and LPs to CDs, editing audio files. editing videos. creating photo slide shows and editing photos. It makes sense going in for the full suite only if you need these features in addition to the standard set of tools for copying and burning CDs. DVDs and Blu-ray discs. Nero now offers basic tools for burning and copying data discs in a freeware package called Nero Lite. The only component present in the software is StartSmart. which features tabs for various tasks. Nero has done a very smart thing to highlight the features of the full suite. Tabs for ripping and burning audio CDs. editing media files, playing media and backing up data are lined up right at the top of the window. The functions under each section get displayed when you click on them. But you'll be prompted to upgrade to the full suite if you select any function. Burning and copying discs is very easy-you can add data either by clicking the Add button or dragging files and folders onto the work area. The burning speed can be configured from the main menu that can be accessed via the button near the Nero logo at the top left corner of the window.
