Thread: "Access is denied" mistake message

I have desktop computer with XP operating system. I am suffering from one big problem. When I try to open any folder "Access is denied" error message comes. Please help me in one of that folder my important document is there. Any help in this matter would be appreciated thanks in advance??

To fix this problem, you should turn off Simple File Sharing, and after that take rights of the folder:

1. Turn off Simple File Sharing:

Right-click the folder that you would like to take rights of, and after that click Properties.
Click the Security tab, and after that click OK on the Security message, if one shows.

Click Advanced, and after that click the Owner tab.

In the Name list, click your user name, Administrator if you are logged in as Administrator, or click the Administrators group.

Click OK, and after that apply the permissions and security settings that you would like for the folder and the folder contents.
