An SDH transmission is data sent above a framework identified as Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH). SDH transmissions are used in telephone conversations, plus in broadband Internet connections. The technology for SDH transmissions started during the late 1980s and restored a technology known as Plesiochronous Digital Hierarchy (PDH).
