Default The audio output is distorted

I have a HCL L19- L1908 notebook. The specifications are: Intel Celeron M 440, 512 MB RAM, 80 GB HOD, 15.4 inch widescreen TFT, combo drive, and Free DOS. The problem is that when I play any video or movie, the audio output is distorted and after few minutes there is no audio output and the system hangs. The system has been formatted but the problem persists. Please help.

You can check the sound card and the computer hardware by using a Linux live CD like Knoppix or Ubuntu. If the distortion and hanging still occur, then the hardware should be repaired. If the problem does not arise, then the drivers of your motherboard might be faulty or need to be updated. There could also be a virus issue on your operating system.
