STELLAR PHOENIX PHOTO Recovery v3.0 is a media recovery tool that lets you recover most commonly used media formats. This handy tool recovers not only your photos, but also a wide range of audio and video files from USB drives, memory cards and portable music players. The software can recover RAW images associated with various cameras and also recovcommon image, audio and video file formats.

We tested the Phoenix with a Cowon iAudio 2 GB MP3 player and an 8 GB and
a 1 GB Transcend pen drive. The software took 45 minutes to scan the 1 GB pen drive, close to an hour for the Cowon and well over an hour for the 8 GB Transcend, after which it showed us the data that could be recovered. Recovering 1 GB of data took a little under three-and a-half minutes.

If you do not have the time to scan the drive, the software gives you the option of making a virtual image of the drive and saving it on your hard disk. You can then recover the data at your leisure using the software to scan the image. The software should have featured a better design. Also, looking at its specialized functionality, it could have been priced at least Rs 600 lower. Do remember that data from a drive that has been completely formatted in Windows Vista cannot be recovered.Overall, the Stellar Phoenix Photo Recovery v3.0 does what it is designed to do and does it well in spite of a few rough edges.
