    Default The Assign the Swap???

Consultation is the next in previous years when not available for many gb ram, it was customary to use a ruler to create the maximum swap partition twice the ram that had in some cases up to 1.5 of or who had ram.

But now along with the capabilities available today, we can talk for 4, 6 and up to 8 GB of RAM and in some cases, higher values for both desktops and laptops home, then this is where my office is taking into account mainly the issue of hibernation or standby equipment. For example if I have a computer with 8GB of RAM, as suggested creating a swap partition??

With that amount of ram 500mb give more of a waste. Now if you intend to use the hibernate the system, then you should give at least the same amount of gigs you have to ram. The reason is that unlikely event that you use hibernation occupying all the gigs of ram, you have enough space to store everything.

I with computers that have less than 2GB of RAM, 200MB I think if anyone has come. It also depends on how you use it the team that I have and it is office use, multimedia and navigation. With regard to hibernation, I do not know if I will run fine on GNU / Linux, I still have not seen it. In Windows I have always been perfect and Mac OS as well, though not enabled by default.

Just as well, if you can afford 8GB of RAM, 8GB swap can afford, right? Anyway, you can create a dynamic and Windows swap if you want to have a dedicated partition. However, neither q Soysa rare sleep or hibernation you use regularly.

I teams over 2Gb or more of main memory, often given 1GB of swap. If you have a team of 8Gb memory and use linux, there is extra memory directly: \ So that you give to 500Mb swap, you'll go spare. Moreover, I doubt they ever so much memory paging ..

Unless you're going to need very specific processes or was spending a lot of server memory is not going to need lots of swap. Probably go with 1GB left for what you do.
