The list of functions of RecordNow Music Lab 10 Premier Edition is about as long as its name. It contains everything that is related to digital music-an audio and MP3 burning module, editors, format converters, media manager, tag editor, recording module, Web radio recorder, MP3 player support and much more. The ripper component can even process more than one audio CD at the same time.

Features
With RecordNow, there are virtually no limitations as to which source you can record music from. CDs, DVDs, iPods, generic MP3 players, Internet radio and even LPs are all supported by the main application. After ripping music from your audio discs, the program automatically tags the files created with title, artist, album, and track number. Note that the program doesn't support ripping protected files, for instance, a disc with copy-protected DRM content won't be ripped.

However, once you have the tracks you need in the library, there are tons of things to do-trimming, splitting, cleaning, noise reduction and modifying are just a few of the features available to tweak your music. If there is a DJ that resides in your soul, then you can unleash him with RecordNow's mixer component that lets you easily create mixes. And even if you aren't creative at all you can make a new mix with a click of the 'AutoMix' button.

Once you have a playlist ready and wish to burn your audio to a disc, there are a range of menu themes to choose from-all of them slick-looking. Note that the only disc formats that the burning features supports are audio, MP3 and WMA CDs. It lets you sync your music between your MP3 player, library and cell phone. Also integrated in the application is the ability to jazz up your cell phone with custom-made ringtones from the music in your library.

Performance
While there certainly is a ton of functionality packed into this piece of software, the producers haven't done a great job of packaging it. The user interface isn't inoperable, but the menu items are complex-one of the menus has up to five sub-levels. So, things can get confusing pretty fast for a novice. There is a silver lining to this situation though-all the important components have been neatly packed under one menu. Individually, all the components do what they are supposed to do very efficiently, but the fact that these separate functions are actually available as free applications should put a damper on users who want to buy it.

Furthermore, the program has an annoying habit of displaying pop-up dialog boxes that inform the user of the larger, and more expensive, Roxio burning suite WinOnCD 10, which contains RecordNow Music Lab as a module.

VERDICT: It's not very intuitive to use, but it allows the user to successfully rip audio discs, tweak and manage music. But unless you work on large-scale audio projects on a daily basis, it best not to buy this product. FOR Supports a range of file formats.
