Everybody who uses digital pictures on computers will have experienced the disappointment of seeing prints that fail to live up to the quality of the same images when viewed on screen. The fault lies mainly in the different ways monitors and printers display white: monitors create it by combining red, green and blue light but printers start with white (the paper) and subtract from it by overlaying coloured ink. image-editing programs include calibration utilities that adjust the monitor to match the printer, but only within that program. The WiziWYG calibration tool used in this Workshop works with any program in which graphics might be used, including word processors. Here's how to use it.

TO DOWNLOAD THE SOFTWARE visit Business/PrintecToolslWiziWYG.html and download the software (the name is a pun on WYSIWYG,an acronym of'what you see is what you get'). Now scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on the Download button. You'll see that there are separate versions ofWiziWYG for Windows XP and earlier versions of Windows. Click on the one you require (we've used the Windows XP version for this Workshop),and in the File Download dialogue box, choose to save the file rather than open it.ln the Save As dialogue box, click Desktop as the destination for the file, and then click on the Save button .

THE DOWNLOADED FILE SHOULD be called 'wiziwyg_xp_install.zip;or similar. Because it's a compressed file, you must extract the files it contains before you can use them.To do so, double-click on its icon on the Desktop to display the file as a folder. Inside the folder is another folder called 'WiziWYG XP'. Double-click on this folder to reveal the program files within, and then double-click on the file called'Setup'or'Setup.exe'to install the program. On pre-XP versions of Windows you'll need WinZip or some other utility program to extract the compressed files'.
