Use a free add-on for Google that shows miniature web pages alongside Google's summaries

Google is great for searching the web, but there's always room for improvement. In this case it's an add-on for Internet Explorer called Lost Goggles (Firefox web browser users need not apply).lt changes the way Google searches are presented so that along with a list of the pages, you also see a thumbnail picture of each page. Near each picture a tiny icon is displayed, and if you click on this, the chosen page opens in a new window. Those who like'to browse this way are saved the trouble of right-clicking and selecting the Open in New Window command. For those who prefer to use one window at a time, Lost Goggles is worth installing for the thumbnails feature alone.

TO DOWNLOAD THE SOFTWARE, type the address line of your web browser and press Enter. When the page appears, click the Lost Goggles link and opt to save the file instead of opening it.ln the Save As dialogue box select Windows Desktop as the location for the file. Close all open windows and then locate the file called 'Lostgoggles.exe' on the Windows Desktop. Double-click this file to install the program, following the simple onscreen instructions. After installation, close all open Windows (including Internet Explorer) and then restart Internet Explorer.

GO TO THE GOOGLE homepage and type in a search term (we looked for'lobster; for no particular reason other than our eating aspirations). Google lists its results with a thumbnail picture on the left of each one.To open a site, click either on its thumbnail picture or its underlined heading. To open the site in a new window, click on the tiny icon (representing two window panes) displayed on the right of the underlined heading. That's all there is to it: happy browsing.
