We introduced this category to analyze the usage of different versions of Windows and Linux in enterprises. The interesting thing is that Windows XP still remains the darling of most enterprises, even though Vista has been around for quite some time now. XP remains as the most future ready brand as of now, till the time Microsoft decides to phase it out at least. This doesn't come as a big surprise because XP still enjoys the highest ownership in most enterprises. Linux continues to remain the third most future ready, with RedHat and SuSe as the only two choices amongst enterprises. Vista however, is gaining popularity, and currently enjoys the highest brand persuasion and pull. Interestingly, RedHat Linux is at the number two spot on both these aspects, followed byXP.
Brand loyalty is the strongest amongst Linux users. 89% of existing users of RedHat Linux said they're likely to continue using it in the future also. XP has the next highest brand loyalty at 61%, with another 25% likely to switch to another OS, mostly to Vista. On the other hand, Vista's brand loyalty isn't very promising. 22% of its existing users said they're likely to continue using it, while another 22% of the CIOs said that they're likely to switch, and even more interestingly, all of them said they're likely to shift back to XP!
