This is a complete security solution to protect your machine from all online as well as offline threats. It is equipped with 'F-Secure DeepGuard' technology, and includes an antivirus, an¬tispam, and a personal Firewall too. 'F-Secure DeepGuard' technology is basically an implementation of the host-based intrusion prevention system. It uses techniques such as system monitoring, sandboxing, blocking of code injections, advanced heuristics, and run-time behavioral blocking for protecting your system from latest spyware and mal ware.
We installed this security solution on a Windows XP SP2 ma¬chine, which was already infected with some common viruses and spyware. This solution successfully detected and deleted all of them. Further, we took a USB pen drive that had approximately 9000 viruses; most of them were self-executable files, zipped, zipped up to 2nd level, and some macro viruses. We ran anti-virus scan on this drive and were able to delete approximately 95% of viruses. For checking its antispam capabilities we placed our spam collection onto our test mail server and started downloading it to the machine, which had this software installed on it.
It could detect around 60% of spams, which is less compared to the Quick Heal Total Security 2007 that detected 75-80% of spams. But this solution learns with time. For checking its Firewall capabilities we ran Nessus and this one showed zero vulnerability, compared to Norton 360 (reviewed October 2007) in which Nessus showed one open vulnerable port. We also exposed this security software to DOS attack and the Arpspoof(for IPS detection) attack. It successfully detected and blocked the DOS attack, but was not able to detect the Arpspoof attack.
