DuaL-ChanneL ProbLems and Photoshop Hassles.

I HAVE AN AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4000+ based PC on H a Gigabyte GA-M61SME-S2 motherboard, and 1 GB of Dyne DDR2 RAM. My motherboard supports Dual Channel Memory, so I bought another memory module. After installing, the BIOS showed the memory operating in Dual Channel mode. However, my PC is not stable anymore.

What should I do?

The problem that you are describing is a fairly common one. Cheap¬er memory modules, aren't always identical in terms of memory timings and frequencies. Buying a dual-channel kit from a reputed brand such as Kingston or Transcend is the easiest thing to do. The manufacturer has tested both modules and guarantees that they work in dual-channel mode. In case a dual-channel kit is not avail¬able, you could also buy two identical RAM sticks of Kingston or Transcend. The point is, don't buy the no-name, too-cheap brand when it comes to RAM. Also make sure the RAM is installed in the correct order.

Desktop, and I find my machine is slowing down. I use Avast Home, Zone Alarm & SpyBot S&D for security. What can I do to speed up performance? Also, whenever I start Adobe Photoshop, I get an error message saying that M2000Twn.dll was not found. If I click OK, it works fine. What does this message means?

Since you're already using a pretty comprehensive suite of security programs, it's unlikely that malware is slowing down your comput¬er. 512 MB of RAM is just a little too low, and I'd recommend you get at least 1 GB. This should give you an immediate jump in per¬formance. To be absolutely sure, you could also try updating your virus scanner and Spybot. and running a full scan.

Your Photoshop problem is related to a driver not being loaded. The driver in question is related to the webcam that came with your computer. Download the driver from progDownloadl Acer -Extensa-BISON-Orbicam-Driver -Download-35328.html Extract this to a folder, and you'll find the M2000Twn. dll file inside the 83A_XPx86 folder. Just copy this to your Win-dows\Twain_32\BisonC07\ folder, and things should work fine.
