Can't get no help
I recently installed Band in a Box 2005 on my new Vista computer. Everything appears to be working apart from the help. When I press Fl to view the help file an error message appears that says "Memory too low to display help file. Try closing large Documents in Word Processors. Tip: Once the .HLP file is open, leave it open, C:\BandinaBox\ BBWHLP". It is confusing because there are no other programs running, and it appears after a clean restart.

Whatever the error message says this is not really a problem with memory, but is in actual fact a change in the way that help is displayed in Windows. The software used to display the .hlp file is not supported by Microsoft any more, and has been removed from Windows Vista altogether. Help files are now based on HTML, the same language used for websites. It is possible to download the program for reading this file from the Microsoft Download Center.
Although it is not specified exactly what the problem is, the Microsoft Knowledgebase article on this problem gives the reason as a security issue, so you should only download the file if the help is essential. Many companies have PDF manuals for software on their websites. More help for Band in a Box can be found.
