There are several factors that depend on the accuracy of an optical mouse. One of them is the resolution. With respect to an optical mouse, resolution is defined as the number of pixels the optical sensor and lens can view per inch while the mouse is being moved. Hence if the resolution in an optical mouse is high, you would require less mouse movement to get an accurate response. Most mice have a resolution of 700-800 dots per inch. Gaming mice have a higher resolution as compared to normal mice for a smoother and more accurate response.
