    Default 9950 vs Q6600

I am planning on upgrading my pc with a budget. (I will be using my 8800GTS)

Now, the uses of this system will be for competitive gaming, I'm not talking Crysis material, but I want to be able to keep a steady FPS rate on games such as WarRock, COD4, CSS, and hopefully future games.

Now, the main problem for me is the processor. Since it isn't the Black Edition 9950, I really don't know how it will perform, I know the Q6600 is a solid processor, but I just can't decide, this is the Q6600 system that is screwing with my mind.
On the overclocking side of things, I would only push either one to 3.0 GHz.

I currently use a Pentium 4 that runs at 3.2 GHz, with 2GB of dodgy RAM, and it's just basically falling apart day by day, the frame rates are never stable, and it's not helping my game! AND

They are just multiplying the core speeds x4, would attract some people I suppose, any chance of some advice though.

That eBay post is really a trying too hard. 10 GHz! 9950BE. When a seller tries to pass off a Phenom X4 9950 as a 10 GHz processor. Stay away. If he is trying to scam folks who think it is a 10ghz processor, what other scam is he trying to nail you for.

Both systems won't cut it for the games you are thinking about. Unless you add a discrete graphics card for the AMD system and upgrade the graphics card on the Intel system. Overclocking both systems to 3ghz will also help performance.

HD4770, HD4850 or GTS250 would be the minimal GPUs I'd consider.

NVM. Didn't see that you plan on using a 8800GTS.
