    Default I7 920 on 4GHz

I know, I'm a knob who just overclocked his new-fangled i7 920 on 4GHz. Here are my BIOS settings:

    QPI Link Speed - x36
    Bclk frequency - 200MHz
    CPU Vcore - 1.4000v
    QPI/VTT - 1.515

I also have V8 Cooler Master. My temps are around 55°C... approximately 60°C when I'm playing FSX (heavy load). I'm anxious. Aren't these temperatures a bit low for 4GHz? Are these voltages ok? Will this OC obviously cut down the existence of my CPU? Should I lower the speed on 3.8GHz? I just don't want to buy for myself new CPU in a year, that's the basis I'm asking this.

Those temps are way low for that power. What are you using to examine them, and what is the temp during a true heavy load test, for example Prime95?

Ok temps look a bit "too" low if you know what I mean? On such high vcore temps should be 85C+

No but critically now, at just 1,2 V on a i7 920 d0 I find 75C so that's just too low. Get Prime95, as well as try some extra temperature measuring programs.

Easytune as well as HWmonitor... they both show the identical! I know. People are talking in series 70-90 when OCed... I can't find it over 61°C... like I alleged. I'm worried... the PC is brand new; everything looks ok as well as is running very well. When thing look too good to be true. Well, we all know... Are voltages ok?

Is there any way to test if these temperatures are true?

    What are the inactive temps?

Try checking your temperatures with else like Realtemp or coretemp...

Idle approximately 40°C. Yes, I already checked with Realtemp... accurately the similar reading.

O Maybe you got an awfully good chip. Those temps on 1.4 vcore are just incredible. Or it could be you got a chip where sensors didn't get located very well.

Try to perhaps open the case while PC is running at full load and touch the heatsink (don't get an electrical shock though, they are a little bit horrible) as well as tell us how humid you believe it is.

You just got an impressive chip. Wish my present I7 ran like yours. I'd have 20c idle's.
