Default Do I Really Need To Push Down this Hard?

I am installing a new Intel C2Q processor onto a MSI compatable mobo. I've never installed a 775 processor and after reading the directions on Intel's site and those given to me, I went ahead. Everything seemed fine (aligned correctly, installed vertically, no bent pins from the mobo, etc). My only concern is that I had to use a pretty good amount of force to push down the arm on the mobo - is this normal? I remember the old P4's required some torque, but this was way above that. Anyone with this problem?

It will vary from board to board, but the lever will usually bend under the force its kind of hard to judge how much force you have to apply without pics, but I would say if everything is lined up correctly not to worry about it.

By arm of mobo, you're talking about the thing that clamps the processor down? In the sole build I've done, I had to push down a bit as well, so it's probably no problem. You're computer is running properly now, right.

The first time I installed one I was worried too. It seems like quite a bit of force, but as long as you've got it lined up right, you should be good to go.

They do require a large amount of force to secure, fiddly and horrible, I take it its all running now, use hw monitor to check the temps to see if it is running properly, and if it is then job well done +1.
