Default E8400 core 2 duo vs. Phenom ii 550

I was surprising how close these two chips were in presentation, the cause being the 550 inexpensive. So any charts and benches would be appreciated?

    Thanks.

If your allowing for a e8400 and you want to keep some $$$. Let me fill some tests I just run and linked it to you. I got a G31 chipset main board with a e3200 in the present day. The e3200 will run 4.0 on a improved motherboard but my g31 doesn't like going over 300FSB. 12x multiplier @ 300FSB 3.6 on stock cooler 32C idle 58C prime 95 load. Benches in a sec. I'm not a gamer so I only got an 8400gs, but I have a extra ati 4870 sitting here.

The E8400 is quicker. Even if you think over clocking the E8400 is enhanced. Of course with the 550 you have the option of unlocking extra cores and depending how that goes the image of value changes. Anyway a more direct opponent to the PII 550 is the Core2 E7400, though the 550 is normally a little quicker.

I should also state that when considering over clocking there are number of good 785G boards that will over clock the PII 550 just fine, particularly with it's unlocked multiplier, but usually you will need to use more on a decent board for the E8400 as you require to over clock via the FSB. If you go Intel obtain a P45 board. The P43 boards normally aren't as fine for over clocking and thus an older P35 board would show a better choice if you can't afford a decent P45 board. When considering over clocking it's always a good idea to appraisal and compare boards to see just how well they do at it.

I wouldn’t say "EAT”. The 550 is low priced and it still can hang up with the E8400 despite. Anyone have any 3dmark06 screeners using an E8400? Essentially if you purchase an E8400 at this instant you are wasting money away since there are good options out at that cost. With a 550 you can’t go wrong since it is 99.99$ and you can basically over clock to extreme speeds with least effort. Not saying that the E8400 is a bad CPU.

Yes well the 550 is not worth either. If you look at the graph of the 550 stock and 8400 stock, Id say eat is an suitable word.
