    Default USB Ports not working!

    Hi everyone,

My USB ports all stopped working very unexpectedly. Nothing is being detected when I attach it to a USB port. I have tried everything.

    1. Try different devices with different ports
    2. Reinstall drivers
    3. Reformat hard drive; install windows and drivers

none of these seemed to work. I even purchased in a different USB hub and plugged it in to the motherboard and its ports won’t work.

The weird object is when I attach my iPod to any of the ports, it shows its getting power and charging, but it is not be detected.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks for any help friends.

This wouldn't occur to be a Gigabyte motherboard would it? The motive I asked because the Gigabyte MB I had happening to fail (again) and after being repaired, the USB ports began to fail. Had it RMA'd, same thing occurred a week afterward. Now a few months down the road, it happened again...I might as well dump it as it's not worth the stable delivery.

Anyhow, most likely a driver matter or your board is dying. Check System Properties by "Right Clicking" on "My Computer," "Properties," "Hardware," and "Device Manager" and look for "Problem strategy."

Yes I am previously using a gigabyte motherboard.
    PC Specs:

    Intel P4 3.2 GHz
    Gigabyte GA-8IP775-g
    120GB Hard drive
    128MB Radeon 9200 Pro Family
    MS Windows XP Pro SP2
    1GB RAM

How do you clear the CMOS? Thank you.

Unplug power string (optional), take out the battery, wait for a while, and then put the whole thing back. That should rearrange the CMOS. If the ports are still not functioning, then u has a dying motherboard.

I rearrange the BIOS to the evasion settings. I even clean the CMOS by taking out the battery. Nothing can happen.

Really? I disappearing motherboard? Anyone else concur with that? Everything else in the mobo seems to be functioning fine.

It’s all superior maybe. U can get one of those 'pci cards with USB ports'. These r really low-priced, and I consider it’s worth a shot.

Lets know How its works out.

I could obtain a PCI USB port, but if the motherboard is disappearing and it killed the USB ports with it, wouldn't it destroy something else earlier or later? So, wouldn’t it be improved to get a new motherboard?

Find a pci USB controller it's very expensive and problem solved. Purchase a new mobo only if you in fact need to and I think you don’t.

I have been monitoring this thread as well, and I required throwing in something I have been experiencing. After doing a small fan modification yesterday all of my USB ports stop functioning as well. I also don't get a signal to my monitor. Dissimilar from you all, I have an ASUS P5Q Pro Motherboard only a week previous.

The major difficulty is that I can’t yet get into my computer now. With the keyboard, mouse, and monitor disabled, I am essentially limited as to what I can do. Everything seems to be linked to the Motherboard problem you guys are discussion about above. My question is, would the monitor problem be the Motherboard as well or the GTX 295? I think were experiencing the same difficulty, apart from more matter is dying quicker on mine.
