VIA is not so famous in the CPUs market as the Intel or ADM. VIA is best known for its mini-ITX platform.
To capture the UMPC market is the VIA’s biggest concern. Their CPUs are only good enough to support XP. Their TDP output is pretty much poor and therefore they are called as little CPUs that can 24x7 but in a small space.
There are some UMPCs demoed that has the latest VIA Nano CPU. One of them was demonstrated at the Compute 2000. But it’s still a long time before it hits the market.
The Nano can create a huge impact by merging nVidia. Though the VIA Nano is a great CPU, in the graphics and chipsets department VIA is still lacks behind.
The nVidia planning to fix their chipset which they have for the Centerino 2 platform and fix it in to theVIA Nano. The nVidia is better than the Intel is in graphics department. It provides a very good graphics interface, and nVidia will not have to merge with their competitors Intel anymore.
With this the Nano can create an opening in the market that it has been looking for. The computers will be pretty much similar except the CPUs and this will force the Intel to make changes. They are biggest sellers of the graphics cores. Intel will have to spent a lot on their R&D department to manufacture something nVidia can’t manufacture.
