It has a very unique never seen before stock cooler. Look wise Intel stock cooler looks like ordinary Intel stock cooler. But when look closely it is very small in size almost half the size of the earlier ones. Having single core, little cache, and a mild speed, this CPU may not provide that much heat.
The core is named as the Conroe-L. Seems like Intel has spent enough time on this great Conroe core to have a bare CPU. The FSB has been brought to 800 MHz from 1066 MHz down. And that is not bad at all. The low FSB kills bandwidth to the motherboard, but these CPUs with the 800 MHZ FSB have higher multipliers, which can overclocks.
Even a core was taken out of the CPU. There are 2 cores under the IHS, and one is deactivated. There’s no need for Intel to create a new core for Celeron CPUs as which will be replaced in short period of time. Almost half of the cache is removed from the CPU by them. With almost everything taken off from this core, will it still be able to compete with AMD.
It appears to be downgrade in comparison with the previous Celerons. The previous ones ran up to 3.6 GHz, where as the recent ones top out at 2.0 GHz. They support for 64-bit computing. Features like SpeedStep and Virtualization technology and many more are yet to be included by Intel. Though these features aren’t required or used that often. The FSB is bumped from 533 MHz to 800 MHz. The Celeron is optional for those who use home theatre. The heat output came down from 65w to 35w, because of the new Conroe technology.
