NEC took over the Packard Bell brand in the year 2000 and discarded the brand in September in the year 2006. They sold the Packard Bell line to John Hui, former owner of eMachines. At present Packard Bell is the 3rd largest computer company in Europe in terms of sales. NEC yet offers technical support under existing warranties and people who buy the product can yet call the NEC help desk.
