    Default Q9550 not nice

I have been all through it with figuring out this complexity. I have tried a latest motherboard; RMA'd the motherboard, different memory, reinstalled my OS, disconnected all as well as reinstalled to make sure configuration and up till now no gain. I was receiving cruel lag when trying to watch movies as well as having the least tasks operating in the background.

Decoding a film would get almost 2 hours with the deficient microprocessor and now it obtains 20 minutes with the alternate microprocessor big difference! If I tried to look at a movie as well as decode at the similar time it would literally be a slide show with resounded sound on the film. I tested this with the superior processor and it was flat as silk while doing both.

Man that irritating but it does happen, I had a awful Intel microprocessor an extensive time before but it was past its guarantee when the obscurity was exposed.

Retail boxed is exact for 3 yrs, so there should be no pedantry over getting it replaced, was the Q9550 in the Media Center PC OC'd at all?

Not at all was stable enough to Overclock so I never tried. There ought to be no stuff with getting an RMA for me luckily. I'm going to call them in 45 minutes when they open to get the RMA started.

An excellent reason to continue all your packing material. Last week, someone here required to RMA his LGA775 motherboard plus he couldn't find out that small plastic socket protector.

Wouldn't you know it; Intel won’t guarantee the microprocessor unless I can provide the heatsink that arrived with the processor. I received an aftermarket cooler as well as offered the stock one to a pal of mine that in turn place it on his computer at work and that computer obtained shipped to one more state.

The only superior fixation is he recognized the IT guy that has it. Let’s see if we can get it back. Wish me luck, loll...

Let me search out with my friend now as well as detect if he can effectively recover the fan that arrives with mine. The Intel C/S rep told me the heat sink that arrives with my microprocessor has numbers on it as well as has to equal.

I have never observed this on that stock has fans. If that be exact, I would have to get my friend to pick up mine plus if he wants to restore it after that I could offer him the one you send to me and he can post it to them.

I will get back to you on that. I will know tonight or else as a least amount I should as to what I can do.

Your idea regarding a caution to others regarding an Intel microprocessor RMA is a good one, there’s nothing superior to your own private experience, if you wish to get the time as well as write something up on it.

build it show on the 100% factual FYI side and not a grievance, I'll see about building it a sticky, as I do consider this circumstances could stumble lots of people.

I can (now) observe someone buying, say, 5 Q9550's and receiving better HSF's, not to OC, but to advance cooling in a confined case. One chip dies. The builder clutches one of the Intel boxes, pops the deceased chip into it and mails it to Intel. Somebody there opens the package and tries to match the serial numbers...

Do they guarantee the use of additional HSFs? Or else does that diminish you to one year? They might previously make sure for corresponding S/N with second prove to watch if you in fact utilized the cooler! Thanks for posting, I'll be watchful with my future build to remain that stock fan in a safe place (as I won't be using it).

After reading all through this thread I make out I'm boned if any of my CPU's go blow up as I've been placing the quad core HSF's on to duties as well as dispatching them out plus I have no design which one went where.

Have you tried air sanding the socket as well as reinstalling the bad 9550, if there was a part of fur or else hair the way the socket is intended it could really fill the contact point?

Just prying as it wouldn't take much in the perfect place to cause a contact acts up among the socket fingers as well as the contact points on the microprocessor itself.

I would as a least do a severe enlarges glass examination of the socket as well as base of the microprocessor to see if there was any reason for bad contact as well as reset it plus try it one last time.
