    My processor 3.06 ghz, 533 fsb and socket 478 work with my open ax4per motherboard.please help me to solve this problem.

    The fans work and leds on motherboard come on. If mainframe is the right and my system can manage the 3.06 placed of the reply the 2.66 that mean the process or is bad.

    You sure your motherboard is plain ax4per nothing extra digits. They made 4 or 5 different flavors. Finally you are going from a 2.66 to 3.06. That is insufficient of an improvement to be worth the trouble. Definitely not worth any money.

    Thank you i have an idea about my mother board and ram speed is it enough to know which will be the best suited model to upgrade, through google search.

    Usually, before upgrading the CPU, your best bang for the buck (or quid in your case) is in RAM first, then a better graphics card.
    Unfortunately, you did not say where you stand in either of those critical areas. If you have less than 1Gb of RAM, then that's definitely where you should put you money first. My updated standard minimum recommendations for RAM is 1Gb/core for XP, and 2Gb for Vista.
