Default High number of unfinished parts in new Western Digital WD20EARS

My friend gave me this drive telling that his disk utility status depicts various warnings about the health of this disk. So he gave it to me to function the tries. Well he did not observed unusual behavior throughout common daily utilize. Now there is no information on the disk and it is really simple to create try on it and moreover this disk has a year of complete warranty. If there are some read/write faults, I should not worry because offline scan can likely remap them but how do I achieve to familiar about vast number of Current Pending Sectors. I utilized the HD Tune for omplete write-read session but nothing altered there.

I really do not familiar what is occuring with your drive but I can take that it is not well. If the parts acquire remapped, then you should see its traces in reallocated parts/event count. What do you receive? I think that you must be receiving zero. The pending parts are maintain pending. I would instead RMA that drive.

These are the parts that the disk has unfinished reassignment because it found that they are wrong. You have a very high value. You have to control it and see if they increase. Watch that the number does not go up. Anyway it would be concerning to have secure place for valuable information, particularly if you see information that increases quickly in a short time. If you can, switch slot and cord disk, format it, fill it, pass a scandisk, and if later the above parts have 0 pending, the disk is well. It has happened various times till I found the sata slot confronting troubles.

In my case from the SMART counters there are 32 parts in hopes of getting a write request for remapped to spare parts scattered across the hard drive. It is therefore useless to waste time passing a surface scan that lasts for hours, because these parts are managed through the firmware of the hard disk being unnoticeable for the operating system.

I do not familiar so much about what may be technically wrong with a hard drive, but I would imagine What program you utilized to 0 fills the hard drive has likely eliminated markers. The controller in the control areas had written to mark the bad ones as unusable. If you are not adverse to paying for it I would urge utilizing SpinRite in order to get excellent status as only what SMART reports.
