Computer Mouse

Computer mouse is a device whose shape resembles an actual mouse. This hand-held device allows you to control your computer without typing instructions from the keyboard. A mouse has a rubber ball (tracking ball) embedded at its lower side, and buttons on its upper side (Top). This ball actually controls the movement of pointer on the computer screen. Every mouse has one primary button (left button) and one secondary button (right button). The primary button is used to carry out most tasks, whereas secondary button is used'in special cases only. You can select commands and options by positioning the tip of the arrow over the desired choice anc clicking the primary mouse button.

Working on a computer through a mouse is easy and faster as compared to the keyboard. The mouse is important, particularly, for graphical user interfaces because in this case you can simply point to options and objects and then by a click of a mouse button you can reach there. Such applications are often called point-and-click programs. The mouse is also useful for graphics programs like MS Paint, CorelDraw and Photoshop. It can help you in drawing pictures by using the mouse like a pen, pencil, or paintbrush. With advancement in technology, computer mouse have become available in different shapes, sizes and buttons.

There are three broad categories of computer mouse:

Three button mouse: This type of mouse have three buttons on it. One is primary button (Top left), another is secondary button (Top right) and the third one is the middle button which is located in between the primary and secondary button.

Scroll mouse: This type of mouse replaces the middle button of three-button mouse with a small roller. When user moves the roller in upward and downward direction, the screen moves in corresponding direction.

Cordless mouse: Cordless mouse is just like a scroll mouse but it has no cord connecting it to the computer. So it is not physically connected at all with the computer. Instead, it rely on infrared or radio waves to communicate with the computer. Cordless mouse are more expensive than both serial and bus mouse, but they do eliminate the cord, which can sometimes get in the way.
