The four common mouse actions are Click, Double¬click, Drag and Select. Let us understand these actions one-by-one. Click means moving the mouse-pointer to the desired option or program on the screen and then pressing the left or the right mouse-button once. Let us now do the click action with each of these buttons.
Clicking with the left mouse-button
To click the left mouse-button, press it just once and then release it. When you perform a click, a 'tick' sound is heard. To highlight. any Desktop icon, you need to click the left mouse-button just once. Let us now practice clicking the left mouse-button on any icon of the Windows XP Desktop.
1. Place your hand over the mouse and move it in such a way that the mouse-pointer gets displayed over the My Computer icon on your Desktop.
2. Now pressthe left mouse-button once and then release it You hear a tick sound confirming the highlighted This highlight is the result of the click action.
3. To remove the highlight from the My Computer icon, move the mouse in such a way that the mouse-pointer shifts to the free space of the Windows XP Desktop.
4. Now, press the left mouse-button once. This makes the
highlight disappear from the My Computer icon.
