User accounts are generally used to make sure that access of user remain secure and personal. Let's consider a case of a family in which there are several members but has only one computer. In this situation the concept of one computer with multiple users will arise. In Windows XP Professional computer, we have two built-in local user accounts: Administrator and Guest.

• Administrator: The Administrative account has all the rights in order to access as well as configure all parts of the system. Administrative account can perform the following functions:

- Manage user accounts and passwords

- Change user accounts, passwords, rights and privi¬leges

- Rename the Administrator account Back up files and directories

- Debug programs

- Install and uninstall device drivers

- Manage auditing and security

- Take ownership of files and other objects

• Guest: Guest account is generally for the users who have no configured account on the local computer but need to access the limited resources only, like to check email or type a quick memo. The guest account does not require any password so they can type guest as the username and leave the password box blank. The guest user wi acquire the default profile of the local computer. Following few things can be done while logging as a guest user:

- Guest user cannot change the attributes of the Guest account.

- Guest cannot install any software.

- Guest cannot change desktop settings, screen saver settings or any other display settings permanently.

- Guest can access the programs like Microsoft Word, Window Media Player, but cannot access anyone else's files.
