Renaming a local Account In case a user no longer exists and some other person has been assigned to accomplish the task of that user, what you will need to do is just change the Local Account Name without other data and files being changed. Undertake the following steps to change a user name:
1. Log on as Administrator.
2. Click on the Start button.
3. Inside the push-up menu, place the mouse-pointer over the Control Panel option.
4. Double click the User Accounts icon in the control panel.
5. Double Click the account to be renamed. From the What Do you Want to Change About Accounts list, select Change the Name as shown in the.
6. Type the new name, and choose Change Name.
