How does DOS work? The commands you enter through the keyboard or the mouse are translated by DOS into signals that the computer understands. The CPU then processes them, and returns the result on the monitor. The System Unit containing the brain of your PC - the CPU, the hard disk, ete. - is driven by DOS, which in turn is directed by the commands that you type through the keyboard. Figure D-l illustrates this process.
