Learning DOS is similar to learning a new language. To communicate with DOS, you should be able to use words or commands that DOS understands. The language that is used to communicate with DOS is called the Syntax.
A command entered at the prompt could be an instruction to run a program, or a request for DOS to do something with a file. It does not matter whether you type a command in upper or lowercase letters. DOS reads COPY, copy and Copy as the same command.
