Now, if you were to type dir, you would see the newly created text file. Well, what if you wanted to just take a look at the file and not have to open edit to do it? That is where the type command comes in. This command displays the contents of a file to the command prompt. Type type myfile.txt or whatever you named your file and press Enter. It will print out the contents of the file to the command prompt.
