The mouse has taken a backseat in recent times with all kinds of new gaming hardware coming out today. The attention is mainly on graphics cards and headphones and even monitors, but people forget that games are won and lost by their hands alone. Important features to look for in a gaming mouse are, comfort, grip, weight, sensitivity and number of buttons. The Lachesis by Razer is a high precision mouse and can improve your gameplay provided you use the features to your advantage.
FEATURES: With a sensitivity of 4000 dpi because of the 3G laser technology, this mouse can react to the slightest movement. According to Razer, the response time is 1 ms and the mouse moves smoothly because of its Teflon mouse feet. While we loved these features the best part had to be the body of the Lachesis, which is all black with a rubber matt finish. It is shaped a bit like a serpent's head and fits snugly in the pair. The Razer insignia which is on the mouse emits a pulsating blue glow and this truly adds to the gloss of this sleekly-designed device. There are nine programmable buttons on this mouse which is quite convenient sometimes.
PERFORMANCE: The mouse was a little bit hard to handle at first because the pre-existing mouse settings were too crude and we watched helplessly as the cursor flew wildly across the screen. All the adjusting seemed annoying at first but after a while the mouse was just a natural extension of the hand'. The buttons are a little bit harder to get a grip on and even the left and right-click buttons seem awkward but once again after some adjustment it is well worth it. If you want highly responsive control you need to update your device settings, this means finding patches and updating firmware.
VERDICT: For those of you who really have the money to invest in good gaming hardware; this should be a must-have.
FOR: Fabulous looking, great design, extremely responsive.
AGAINST: Extremely expensive.
