Preventing the storage of process data temporarily while surfing. Some surf sessions should remain private-there should be nothing to find in the list of visited web sites and form data in the cache. Still, you don't really want to delete your entire history, which most of the browsers offer to do.

The Apple browser 'Safari' offers a suitable function in the latest version 3.1.2, with which it is possible to deactivate the saving of process data temporarily. iTunes users should try to take a look at the Start menu, where the browser is possibly loaded on the computer through an automatic update.

During installation, make sure you don't install any additional software like 'Bonjour for Windows' along with it. An interesting and special feature of Safari is the 'Private surfing' function. With that, you can visit websites safely without your activities being tracked in the 'History' for weeks or an automatic passwords being remembered by a supposedly helpful feature. You can delete the history or private data in other browsers also, but you lose everything if you do that. With Safari, you simply need to turn off the history and cache functions selectively for as long as you need to surf without being logged, which will not affect the other history.

Use the 'Edit Private Browsing' command to enable this mode and confirm it in the dialog box by clicking 'OK'. You can deactivate the privacy function using the same command. In addition, Safari goes back to its standard privacy settings every time it's restarted.
